2015 / 16 UPRC Season Recap

After a huge turnout at Freshers Fayre, the club has already seen a marked improvement. With the aim to build on the success of the previous season, the University of Portsmouth Rowing club upped training intensity and really pushed for more wins! A slow start to the season caused by a lot of bad weather didn't dampen spirits as we made our first race at Worcester Uni Head with the Novice Women's 4+ coming away with a great win. New training programmes saw an increase in progression throughout the squads, with PBs being shattered all over the place all through the year.

Following on from Gloucester, we made the very long journey up north to Newcastle for our first ever entry to BUCS Head. In spite of tough competition our Champ4- managed to finish 7th in the division, whilst there was similarly impressive results from the Women's Beg4+, Men's Int8+ and Men's Int4+.

We then sent our first ever Women's crew to represent the club at Women's Head of the River, which was a huge achievement for the club and the women!

Finally the year ended with a record entry at BUCS Regatta in Nottingham; sending an Im8+, Beg8+, Im4+, Im2x, Im2-, Beg1x, WIm4+ and two WIm2x. The racing was affected by adverse weather towards the end of the weekend, but we still managed some excellent results.
